Fighting soil erosion and boosting fertility through Agroecology ππͺ±π

Gregoire Bio Allagbe, a farmer in Guessou (Benin), has been practicing agroecology for two years. He implements techniques to combat soil erosion and improve irrigation management.
His goals include increasing yields with adapted seeds, developing beekeeping and market gardening, as well as launching a sheep and goat farming project. πΏ
He maintains soil fertility through crop rotation and intercropping (e.g., maize and yam), the use of organic fertilizers, and the preservation of shea trees to create multi-layered cropping systems, enrich the soil with organic matter, and prevent erosion. He also allows fields to lie fallow with pigeon peas for two years to add nitrogen and organic matter, followed by plowing in the third year. π½π
