How to turn very degraded landscapes into resilient food producing locations ?

The World Food Programme sustains the Great Green Wall of Africa project, whose aim is to create a barrier of trees, from Dakar to Djibouti, to stop the expansion of the Sahara and to create abundance and make people live here.
*1st step: Build water harvesting structures that maintain the water on site : half moon or zaΓ― technique
*2nd step: Plant lines with different crops
*3rd step: Plant biomass trenches to provide biomass as the system grows
*4th step: Plant pits with fruits trees between the trenches
That will drive the rejuvenation and the protection of the soil as the system starts growing into abundance and producing food and life for the people living here.
Young people donβt have to leave the villages anymore to find work, they take care of the lands and contribute to the local dynamic of the community, that creates a local cohesion.
