Solar boreholes coupled with a khettara in Morocco: Or how collective action secures irrigation 🌱💧☀️

☀️ A collective of 15 farmers came together to pool their financial and management resources to install two solar boreholes, supplementing the khettara, which was no longer providing enough water.
💧 Water management is communal, with a right to water every 15 days. The boreholes are used to complement the khettara. Water management is thus sustainable, thanks to the absence of direct competition over the use of the borehole.
⏩ Next step: modernize the irrigation network to reduce losses due to evaporation.
